Appellant, Ronald Wayne Newman, was charged with raping and otherwise sexually abusing a thirteen year old girl who babysat his girlfriends children at his home. Following a jury trial in the Circuit Court for Prince Georges County, he was convicted of two counts of sex offense in the third degree and of child abuse.
